THE GEN Z TEAM
Your peers have already freed themselves, and want to show you how to build the life you want. Meet your guides Freya, Gabriela, and Seán, and your other peers paving the road to refusal.

Freya India
Since graduating Freya has contributed to publications such as the Spectator, the New Statesman, UnHerd and the Independent, offering unique and nuanced insights into a generation falling apart. Her writing has also been acknowledged in The Atlantic, The Guardian and The New York Times. Within a few months of launching her Substack GIRLS, Freya has drawn in a diverse, global and highly engaged community.

Gabriela Nguyen
Gabriela is the Gen Z founder of the "appstinence" movement, which she began as a student-led cause during her time at Harvard. The movement calls for abstention from social media, replacing it with direct-line communication and in-person interaction. The movement has been featured by The New York Times, Business Insider, Harvard Ed, WIRED, Fast Company, Yahoo, Newsweek, and various outlets across the globe.
Seán Killingsworth
Seán Killingsworth is the founder of the Reconnect Movement, a national network of high school, college, and community clubs for meeting people and doing fun stuff without phones. Reconnect brings connection back to our spaces by providing an option to spend time together, fully present in the moment.
Nick Plante
Nick is an organizer helping people build the lives they seek away from extractive digital technologies. He educates communities on attention activism, advocates for more robust tech policy, and hosts events around the country to foster deeper agency and connection.

Henry Michaelson
Henry is a recent addition to the "appstinence" movement, and serves as co-chair of Appstinence Office Hours– an online hub for anyone to ask questions about unplugging. After approaching the issues associated with digital technology through a philosophy degree, he is now ready to start organizing events to highlight the dangers of these technologies and promote more connected, authentic lives.

Judy Liu
Judy is an active participant and enthusiastic collaborator in the digital health space. After deleting the majority of her social media accounts and reducing her screen time over the course of a few years, she became curious about exploring the intersections of technology, education, work, and human development more broadly. Judy is optimistic that this cultural shift will help bring everyone one step closer to reaching their full potential.
